my favorite thing is fanboys talking about how debilman inspired berserk for five hours then saying oh i hope berserk ends with guts killing griffith in a really brutal way

lmao right? also like, i’m js Akira’s insistence on total war against Satan after Miki was killed was pretty strongly portrayed as negative. the message is an unsubtle war is bad, and both Akira and Satan end up seeing the other’s pov and meeting in the middle in the sequel. but I feel like those same fans probably just see the ending as Akira righteously fighting Ryo the evil gay to avenge his dead not gf and then tragically losing the fight so like, w/e.

anyway at this point, with saga all kind of up in the air and no one knowing if ryo and akira are even related to the characters in it, the ryokira story ended with them teaming up to defeat god after banging in hell so

That’s like a highly ideal ending honestly, the Griffith kills Guts and then it ends on him having a Real Emotion and it’s all terrible

yeah i feel like it’d be the perfect blend of tragic yet satisfying for me. even moreso if Guts does that thing he does where he lets himself be stabbed because he’s full of guilt and mixed feelings. like say, if he finds out ngriff hasn’t completely lost his human emotions beforehand and actually failed his emotion test on the hill of swords…

Depends which aspect. I don’t think a full on everyone dies apocalypse would suit Berserk, and if Casca wakes up only to die horribly to piss Guts off again a la Miki I would absolutely hate it.

But ngl the ryokira ending would be perfect for me. Griffith killing Guts and then having a breakdown is one of my ideal endings lol. Especially if, like Ryo, he acknowledges he’s in love with Guts first and doesn’t want to kill him. And that aspect is probably what you meant, so yeah, I’m all for that ending.

TRUE! Griff is Gut’s light. Honestly, what I want more than a final battle is Griff bringing Guts back from BM, or Guts going into Griffith’s mind like Casca = ensuing emotional breakdown/unfrozen heart. (& Guts meeting child Griff in his mind this I need) Griffith doesn’t need to die, he needs to become a sobbing mess of feelings.

I second this so hard, I would absolutely love if either of these things happened. And hey there’s been a lot of mind exploration with Schierke around, so again, totally possible.

(lmao totally ot but i was browsing the devilman tv tropes page the other day for some stupid reason and there was literally an entry where someone mentioned that akira mysteriously regained his human heart with no explanation and it’s like !!! why are people like this. we literally see it happen on the page omg. i can get homophobes denying gay overtones but seeing them completely blocking climactic plot-relevant scenes out of their head because they’re gay is incredible to me.)
